If your tooth needs its shape, size, strength, or appearance improved, Dr. Randall may recommend a dental crown. A dental crown may be used to do the following:
- Protect a weak tooth
- Hold a cracked tooth together
- Restore a broken tooth
- Restore a worn-down tooth
- Support a tooth with a large filling
- Hold a dental bridge in place
- Cover an irregularly shaped tooth
- Cover a dental implant
Traditionally, having a crown placed meant at least two appointments with several weeks in between. With the use of CEREC® technology, our team at Randall Dental Associates - Texas Dentistry can create your dental crown in-office in one visit. Our dentist will remove a small amount of tooth enamel to prepare for the crown. Then, an image of your tooth is digitally scanned into the computer. Our dentist will digitally design a crown that is natural looking. The 3D design is sent to our milling machine and constructed. The crown will be placed in your mouth and checked for fit and color. After any necessary adjustments are made, our dentist will permanently cement your dental crown into place.
We encourage you to contact our dental office today to learn more and to schedule your next appointment in Lewisville or Dallas with our dentist.
