If you have any of the following symptoms, Dr. Holbrook may ask you to take a sleep apnea test, also called a sleep study:

  • Waking with a very sore or dry throat
  • Loud snoring
  • Sometimes waking up with a choking or gasping sensation
  • Sleepiness or lack of energy during the day
  • Sleepiness when you drive
  • Headaches in the morning
  • Restless sleep
  • Forgetfulness or mood changes
  • Insomnia

Our dentist will have you complete a sleep risk assessment questionnaire. Then we will provide you with equipment and instructions for you to complete you sleep study in the comfort of your home. Return the equipment to us the next day and the results are usually available in three business days.

If the results indicate that you have sleep apnea, our dentist will treat sleep apnea. We will provide you with an oral device that pushes your tongue and jaw forward. This makes your airway larger and improves your airflow. Oral devices reduce the risk of tissues collapsing and narrowing your airway while you sleep. Our dentist also performs laser treatments for sleep apnea.
